Every month we feature a different NEMHS member farm with a short article and photos. It’s another good way to promote your farm, show string, or breeding program to New England Miniature Horse enthusiasts. There’s no Featured Farm for January 2010. If you are interested in participating in our Featured Farm series for 2010, please send an email to the webmaster.

The Annual Meeting of the New England Miniature Horse Society will be held at 11:30am Sunday, December 6, 2009. The location is to be announced soon. Elections will be held for all officers and one seat on the Board. Agenda is here.

Lunch will be pot luck. After the meeting we’ll have our annual Yankee Swap. If you wish to participate, please bring a wrapped gift not to exceed $20 value.

Remember, to be eligible to vote your 2010 NEMHS membership must be paid in full by November 30, 2009.

NEMHS is pleased to present our Featured Farm for November, 2009, Lil Stars Miniature Horses of Exeter, RI.

Lil Stars Miniatures is a family-run farm owned and operated by Angel Catarius ,  Joseph Swift,  and Courtney Roland.  Lil Stars tries to maintain a herd of less than 15 horses. That way they can really devote their time to each and every one. “We’re especially proud of our youth kids who come and help us during the summer.  Each one of our horses is handled by the kids and all beginner adults,” says Angel Catarius.

Lil Stars is mainly a show farm, as they don’t do much breeding (though they may have one or two foals a year).  They show their horses on a local and regional level. Angel said, “Our horses represent some of the best farms and we enjoy them to the fullest. They do halter, hunters, jumpers, and we are now just this past year breaking into the driving scene.”

Angel, Joe and Courtney love to speak to and educate the public about the Miniature horse at any opportunity.  You will find them at benefit shows and other events supporting multiple clubs and promoting the Miniature horse.

Lil Stars has AMHA/AMHR registered horses for sale all the time. They love visitors so please give them a call and stop by, they really would love to see you!
