We all just know that some of the best and most beautiful Miniature horses in the world are right here in New England. And this year, several NEMHS members traveled to Fort Worth, Texas for the AMHA World Championship show and came back with with the ribbons and trophies to prove it. Among those earning bragging rights as exhibitors and/or owners were Kristina Slobody, Tom and Lorraine O’Connell, Darlene David, Zoe and Ashley Laurer, and Kathy Carton.
Kristina Slobody took a lot of hardware home to Sawmill River Farm, with four horses earning World Champion trophies and two achieving Reserve Champion honors, among many top five and top ten placings. It is impossible for us to properly summarize her success here on the club website, so please take a look at srfminis.com –and of course, the upcoming Miniature Horse World magazine– for more details. Just some of the highlights were three World Champions in AOTE Level 2; another World Champion in Amateur Level 2; Reserve Champions in AOTE Single Pleasure and Amateur Level 2 classes. In addition to all that, Kristina and the horses of SRF garnered an impressive number of top five and top ten plaques as well.
Tom and Lorraine O’Connell of Crystal Ridge Farm picked up four top tens including a Reserve Champion and two other top fives. Crystal Ridge horses also took home top five and top ten ribbons in the Futurity classes.
Darlene David of Bay Breeze Miniatures drove her way to three top tens including a third place in Amateur Country Pleasure Level 1.
Zoe Laurer had two top tens in Youth classes and took fourth place in Open Hunters. And Zoe’s mom, Ashley Laurer, made the top ten in her very first World show class! Horses from the Laurer family’s Carrera Hill Farm also took two top fives in Open halter classes as well 3rd place in the two-year-old stallion futurity.
And finally, NEMHS member Kathy Carton’s Falcon Ridge Sonnys Brandy Girl was Reserve Champion of two-year-old mares over 29″ TO 31″.
Congratulations, we are very proud of you all.
